I took some pics of Ellie yesterday and wondered if you could tell me how you think she is looking - it's sometimes hard for me to be objective when I see her every day.

She came to me at the end of December looking very poor - probably a body score of 1. Despite a thick winter coat you could see her ribs, and she looked dull and miserable. I have taken it slowly, building her up very slowly but wondered how far we have actually got. Some days I look at her and am happy with how she looks, some days I think she is still too thin. We are building up the exersise, doing little and often as I am worried that too much exersise will burn calories and prevent the weight going on.

She is a 27 year old IDx.

I agree she is still slim ...but she won't have the muscle tone of a younger horse...

I think I would say she looks very well for the summer grass and has a bit of room for manouver,, I would consider though fattening her up a bit more through the Autumn as I think she could do with a bit more on her for the winter months.

well done though she looks happy and her coat is nice and shiny.

Considering she had a condition score of 1 six months ago, I think she's looking pretty good.
She'll look better with a bit more muscle but as you said, it's a fine line not to over work her.

As others said, she doesn't look 27

I'm loving the fact she doubles up as a lawn mower

. Used to put my pony in the garden, much to my OH's annoyance

She certainly looks well for her age, or any age really. She is a little on the lean side, I would try to get a bit more weight on her but she's not doing bad. Lovely to see her looking so relaxed and happy
