This is my mare Tictac. I have just started to lunge her again after her Kissing spine operation at the end of august 2010. We are now at the stage where she is being lunged 3 times a week with her saddle on and the rest of the time she goes out in the field. She has been an absolute pleasure and not displayed any of her previous problems of biting when girthed up or bucking on the lunge.

I will soon be back on board doing lots and lots of walking with her, lateral walk work in the school and short walk hacks. I am not too worried at the moment about how often I do this with her as the weather is not that great and I have to work as well. If I can keep things ticking over untill the spring I will be happy.

ps I know she is looking rather well!!!

Thanks for your comments! Maybe I should have titled my post....Help skinny horse, oh well, I think she looks great considering she had 4 pieces of bone removed.

I think she is looking really well. Maybe a bit plump? Still she has had a lot of time off and now you are starting her again slowly.

She is gorgeous how is she bred? I really like her, a real stunner!

She looks an absolute credit to you, it can't have been easy for you or horse over the last few months. Spring is just around the corner and I hope you both enjoy lots of leisurely walks, she will harden up and walk off her extra "condition". Beautiful horse.

Thank you and yes I do think she is a little on the ' round ' side but to be fair to her she hasn't done any work for 9 months now as allthough she was diagnosed with KS last april, I gave her the summer in the field before deciding to put her through the op at the end of august.

She is a registered dutch warmblood by Grosso z who is also the sire of Ludger Beerbaumn's famous showjumper Goldfinder ( I think that's correct) She will be 11 in march and I have had her for almost 3 years. It definitely wasn't love at first sight but I honestly believe that most of the ' battles ' I had with her stemmed from her back problem. We shall see.

she is absolutely lovely, just my kind of horse :-) actually quite similar to mine in build/shape exept mines red chestnut ;-) if u saw mine you would not think she was fat! i cant believe anyone would think shes too fat. Its been a harsh winter and its much better to see her like that than skin and bone, well done
