How's Teddy, Showaddy1?

He's looking much better - he's got a shine to his coat and his poverty lines on his quarters are not so pronounced. You're doing a geat job!

Only suggestion for lice is perhaps Tea Tree Shampoo?

You are both stars!

Glad to see the update, I was only thinking the other day. So glad your heading in the right direction. I look forward to following his progress :)

wow! what an improvement! He's even got a bit of a shine! you're definitely heading in the right direction! Keep up the fantastic work, you're an inspiration :) xx

I just read all the way through the original thread, the horse is a credit to you, it gladdens my heart to see how he has improved. As the owner of horses that I don't see often, but am confident that they are happy and well fed, all good doers (they live with my Mum 300 miles away) I can't imagine ever letting a horse get anywhere near that condition - and I can't comprehend the mentality of someone that thinks this is ok!

I rarely post, but felt I needed to say how well you are doing and doff my virtual cap at you. :)

I'm really glad to hear Teddy is doing well, bless you for helping him.
The lice problem;I was reading a post on here about Diatomaceous Earth and how good it is for fleas etc. I think it is also supposed to work with lice. it may be worth looking into if the chemical treatment isn't working, it is a natural substance so wouldn't hurt his skin and wouldn't involve bathing in this cold weather.
Best wishes
Pam

Been reading your story but haven't felt that I had anything else to say that hadnt been said already but having taken on a lad covered in lice what worked for me was coopers fly repellant, I think that's what it's called.
Really smelly stuff but did the job for me, hope that helps

Oh god, struggling to add pics.... I'm going to add them to my profile again and some kind person can bring them into this post....
He has put on weight, not as much as I'd like but hey ho its the middle of winter!! Lots of lovely bald patches at the mo where his rain scald has come off and we are waiting for his coat to come through. Still suffering with lice despite the louse powder, Ivomectin and going through him with a nit comb!! (seriously I have). Any suggestions gratefully received.
He is however, so happy....he whinnies when he sees us (knows there's food on the way).

It may take Dr Green to get the weight back on & it can be quick. Not as bad as your boy but Flick end Jan when I bought her

So it can be very rewarding, good luck with him such a shame horses have to get into this state in the first place

Magic104

That's amazing she looks fab :)

Showaddy1

He's looking better already so pleased for him, you and your daughter.
Cant help on the lice but I hope you find something that works.

You're doing a fantastic job, he is very lucky to have found you!
Let us know when the FB group is back up and running.

Only thing I now use for lice is the spot on treatment for cows, as louse powder and shampoo wasn't working (not technially for horses though but was recommended by someone) :)

Can't wait for me updates and pictures :)

Oh magic... she looks stunning. Well done you x

I've just bought coopers fly repellant, I'd love to bath him but its -3 at the mo so I don't think he'd thank me for it!

I cant wait till the grass comes through, a firm believer that good spring grass works wonders.

My bank balance, as predicted, certainly is taking a battering right now but hey ho? what else would I spend it on??
