Black pony does like to show me up, one look at this photo and you would think I was the cruellest rider ever (although I do realise that I was too tight in the hand - bit nervous!), my reins were too long and my stirrups too short). Picture was during a head flick at local mini hunter trial, his first ever!

This is the other end of the head flick part...

But 85% of the time now we get this:

So we are moving in the right direction...but a picture really can make you feel terrible!

Now try to get your head around the flexion in this photo.....!

Looks a bit like the Exorcist! Agree that a picture is only a microsecond in time: most can be made to look awful..or great!

Um, you are cruel, he doesn't actually have a head in that last pic. He's mighty fine though, despite the sad lack of a face.

I suppose I should be pleased he is so flexible! I still can't quite get my head around what on earth he was doing in the last one...I do know that he was super excited, and that it wasn't our best effort at Le Trec!

Bet you thought "surely it's not normall to see my ponys nose in my face" in your 2nd picture.

It is pretty disconcerting to be looking your pony in the eye as you canter along. That's probably why I had my eyes shut!

*(oh, and I meant my stirrups were too long...definitely not too short!)

Great photos! he looks lots of fun to ride ;-)

Just goes to show that a photo is a very small snap shot of time and can be very misleading!

Haha what is going on there!

The field in front of us jumped that fence and swung right. He tried to swing right and was going to kneecap me on that orange pipeline marker. I tried to pull him out left but he was having none of it and jumped anyway! He stayed upright, just, and I stayed on, just. One of the joys of drag hunting :D

After the weekend from hell OP's pics have made me smile - even got a wee laugh - an actual lol! OP your mount looks like great fun to ride and be with!

Some great pictures! Pony is a total doofus, everyone calls him the clown pony or the Labrador. He's gorgeous but with all the fire and sensitivity of both his Spanish and Welsh sides, like a little firecracker.
