Team GB really threw down the gauntlet . . . Guy Williams (on that lovely mare Djakarta) rode a blinder in the Foxhunter - and then Skelly showed that he has depth in his string by snatching the lead from Dennis Lynch by really reading his horse and the course to win on Big Star.

What struck me, though, was how empty the arena was . . . loads of empty seats. What's up with that?

I didn't watch it but I did check to see if there were any tickets left and there seemed to be a lot of tickets still available.

Only Saturday night was sold out when I checked.

I was there last night too, Thursday and so enjoyed the jumping, the Foxhunter, has always been a good class and last night was no exception, the top 3 were all worthy winners in my book.
Nicks 2 wins yesterday were the icing on the cake ,and how he managed to beat Lord Luis I will never know, quite superb.
There is a real foreign challenge this year, many top top riders from the Continent and on some of the better horses too.The Leading Jumper on Sunday should be amazing.
Re the empty seats, well for me, there is an extra day this year, there were lots of people in the Caldene Showing Arena, maybe they went home after the showing, maybe they had really early starts to their days, and the Sky TV schedule meant there were about 3 ad breaks while the Jump for Joy class was going on. People began to drift off, as the time was around 11pm, and the night was wet and windy walking back to the car park (£8 for that)
Having said that, I felt my Gold ticket was reasonable value, given that it was for all day with 2 arenas and top shopping halls.
