Well did our fuirst one yesterday and it really wasn't the best course for a first timer. very windy(?sp) and lots of jumps on slopes (side to side) small copse which poor h could only just fit in- would have been fine if he was a pony! and a very tight turn to get over the next 2 jumps. Anyway he coped v well considering and apart from a few sticky moments when he decided he needed to check the fence out before jumping over it meaning we were almost jumping from standstill on several occasions, and then a very cheeky run out at the last partly my fault for letting him get a bit long and partly his for being cheeky. am slightly worried about next weeek as am doing the 3' course and feel that if he tries to look and then jump over those we could be in trouble so will walk the course then decide if its safe! am hoping it will be a much more horse-like course rather than pony-like so will be more inviting and he won;t need to look as hard at the fences!!

Hey! that sounds like the one Mole and I went to yesterday. Glad to hear you got on ok, luckily Mole is very honest and would have a bash at anything under 3foot from a standstill which was handy going through that copse. Check out my post from earlier there are photos of us and everything you might have seen us there.

Are you doing the Heythrop next week? I'm taking my eventer to do the 3'6", see you there if you are

HI yes that copse was pretty tricky, H did it practically from a standstill as well. I thought that 2'6 was prob an underestimate of heights some seemed more like 2'9 and perhaps not the easiest of novice courses but hey ho on to next week. Yes we are hoping to do the 3' novice, have you been before would love some info on how the course is etc as am alittle worried that jumping 3' from a standstill will be somewhat more tircky!!
will look at your report so i can spot you next week!
