Had a proper discussion with hubby last night about finances and getting a horse, I was quite nervous about bringing it up in case he said 'no', but lo and behold he smiled and said 'why not'!

I am so happy I could burst, I have waited 30 yrs for this - yeah!

Now I just need to find a horse (livery place already secured) so if anyone knows of a 14.2-16hh sane, loving but reasonably forward going gelding that hacks, schools and does a bit of jumping in the Essex area pm me!

Well done - does he realise he will hardly ever see you now and his life will never be the same again?!!

Enjoy your horse hunting, its a good time of year to look...there are plenty for sale at the mo.

That's SOOO exciting! You won't be able to sleep now, you will be thinking of the type of horse you want to get and all the things you will do.
Having waited til I was 27 for my 1st horse (having ridden/competed other people's since I was 3) I know how exciting this must be for you....

Be really grateful that your husband didnt know any horse widowers. My hubby said 'yes' 11 years ago and it was the biggest mistake of his life.

My daughter soon followed suit with a pony request and we are both on our second animals. Poor devil has taken up riding now because otherwise he is completely out of the loop.

I often say if he could have forseen the future he would probably have said no.

You are in for the time of your life!

That is great news, your hubby had better take up golf or something for all the hours you'll be up the farm lol

to echo everyone else! THATS BRILLANT! What a great hubby you have- I hope he understands that he will no longer see you or have anymore holidays as you want to spend every moment with your long awating horse!!!

My hubby said yes, but moaned for the first 3 months as I was always knackered, no dinners cooked, house a mess, then loved telling people "we have a horse you know!!"

Then actively made me go buy one more suitable (whilst keeping the 1st one!)

So, being a Horsey Widower, took up fishing...

... which led us to buying 30 acres of farm in Kent, with fishing lakes, and stables/arena...

Funny how life comes about....

Will you be changing your user name??

Thanks guys, no-one at work understands why I'm bouncing around like a loony! I am quite impatient but I know I must take my time, esp as I'm away for 2 weeks in May, don't really want to get anything before then.

LOL, this is just what mine has done. Now he is as pasionate about his hobby as I am about mine. It works brilliantly!!

I am also looking for my first horse. I've been riding for 25ish years, and am now in the position to own one.
You must be 100% sure, don't buy one because you can.
It's really exciting, and it's fun looking.
Good luck in your search

Hi, that is fantastic news. Get out there and start looking.

I had 2 horses when I met my hubby, but then sold one. He is not a horse widower though as he is football mad and he manages a team too. So he spends a lot of time with his sport so we both get to do what we love. I am at present trying to talk him into letting me have a second one, but its taking time.

How exciting - I'm so pleased for you!

Have you tried the essex rider classifieds, they're really good. And ingatestone's for sale board is too.

Keep us updated - you'll have to change the name soon
