Ok, I tried, how the bloody hell do I get him to drop it when he’s super shy, Victorian maiden level reticent? He froze, I kept going, he retracted it into a universe far, far away and went back to his hay whilst looking smug. Git.

I‘m not actually too bothered, I’ve never been able to get in there but was inspired today. Shame he wasn’t! He’s not having difficulty weeing or anything.

I was going to suggest he might have been a rig and you’ve just popped out his remaining ball! ?

I usually poke a hose up there semi-regularly. Even if you can’t get hold of anything, you can flush out a lot from around his sheath. Eventually they get used to you fiddling with their bits and their embarrassment subsides. Just don’t have the tap on full blast.

I spent ages one day coaxing him to drop, any time I tried to take hold he'd retract so I gave up.
Swooping in works well for us. Usually though he wees in fairly public places, like beside the arena ? so I have to time taking him past his pee spot carefully if he needs checking ?

Yes the blow back spray is uuuuuuuummmmmmmmm not something you want to become wet by!!!!!
 
In the old days we just used the hose to flush out the sheaths or cleaned it when it was down. I don't believe I had ever heard of a gelding having a bean. And that picture was disgusting, in an interesting way.

Hahaha. I've never flushed it out.. I might in the future! The end of his willy before was huge.. I took a photo and showed a friend. She said check for a bean! I won't share that photo ?
