Big reality check this weekend...... I have decided that I am going to give BSJA a real bash this winter.

After a fantastic couple of weeks watching top class eventing, I have decided I will never get to the dizzy heights of competing at 3* level, not unless I win the lottery, marry a rich guy or find the most amazing horse to ride that someone wants to fund!!

I love eventing, always have done, but I am struggling to justify the costs, and with Winstons ruddy feet, I can only event at the beginning and end of the season.

So BB's, the same BB's who not so long ago struggled with SJing and said she hated it with a passion, is actually enjoying it
smile.gif

There you go, no more eventing prep threads, BSJA here we come
smile.gif

Hey thats not to say I wont go back eventing from time to time
wink.gif
but for the time being SJing is what I would like to have a crack at!

But......I DONT DO BLING
mad.gif
but I do rather like Sheepskin

Welcome to the fun world of BSJA. When you join say Weezy recommended you and she'll get a money of voucher, might also be worth joining a RC for £20 as they are giving RC members deals for joining.

Now you will have a shopping list:
Velvet saddlecloth with bling binding
Bling bridle
Hat with one of those funny stripe thingys down the middle
White breeches instead of beige ones
high collar shirt minus stock ... yuk

Enjoy

I have a winter of shivering waiting my turn at BSJA venues across the SW! I loathe SJ but it suits my slightly obsessive personality about getting things just right!
If only they would give you a time then I could really like it as hate having to guess how long things will take.
Good luck and have fun. It certainly works out cheaper and double clears stand a good chance of getting money.

Good luck - sj can be good fun and there is decent prize money in comparsion to eventing.

There is no reason you cannot do both!

Used to event all summer, sj all winter. Eventers in our area give the sj a good thrashing regularly!!!!!

Sounds like a wise decision! My former instructor made the same choice - she was amazed to discover that if she won a class showjumping it actually more than covered her entry and diesel costs, which is more than be said of eventing!

My problem TGM is that I am competitive, and with Winston going lame with bruised soles, pussy feet and also having ringbone we have so much against us - he is a good SJer so I am hoping we can have some fun on a surface
smile.gif

Now on the look out for a nice SJer to bring on over the winter
smile.gif
I have winston, and I have sunny - although Sunny although is enjoying his new lease of life hasnt yet had me on his back - so watch this space - BB's could be ejected from the saddle PDQ on Friday lol

WOW , well done you , sounds like and entirely sensible decision on Winnie's account and the fact that you're enjoying SJ-ing now makes it all the better.

you can always do the odd event on a ticket should the mood take you, think of the money you'll save.

bet you don't have to travel as far for BSJA either.

No, seriously it's great fun, mostly friendly people and decent courses, plus I expect you won't have to travel as far
smile.gif

Have fun and let us know your progress!

Oh, and it always starts with sheepskin, you'll be head to toe in gold trim before you know it! LOL!

More competitions, cheaper entry fees, able to run more often - no contest really!! I keep thinking I ought to do the same rather than bankcrupt myself!

The winter circuit is good fun although there can be a hell of a lot of waiting around on cold wet days. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi BBs,

Good luck with your new venture. One tip though if you want to be taken seriously in the SJ world you need to master the art of jumping with a ciggy in one hand and a mobile phone in the other, I'm not sure what you do with the reins so you may need to observe some masters at work to establish the finer point of this skill!!
