Huge hock.. ideas?

So I've gone up the yard today and we are now on 3 legs.

His hock is pretty massive, its warmer than the other though also hard to really tell quite how warm as he has such a thick winter coat over it. He is resting it given the choice, though will weight bare, lame in walk and very lame in trot. I have felt for lumps and bumps and bar the visible swelling can find nothing. I ran my hand down his whole leg and applied quite a lot of pressure, especially over and around the hock and he didnt flinch at all.

Any ideas what he might have done?

Could be a bad strain.....Sounds like best to get the vet to look.

Most probably not but my boy had a random swollen hock one day and was lame so gave him time off but didn't go down so got vet out a few days later had some x-rays and he actually had a small chip fracture in his hock.

I would get the vet to check him over to be on the safe side x

Is his lower leg swollen as well or just his hock?
