huge lumps

Just been to yard to put horses out and joshy has got huge swelling all over his belly

I took his boet off last night to give it a wash cause it was discusting. Somthings obviously bitten him and hes had a reaction, i plasterd him in fly spray as well.
The flies and midges are terrible at the moment with this humid wet weather, its really pissing me off now

Ive bathed the swellings and have given him some bute, just waiting fort he vet to call me back to advise me on what else i can do.
Any one else had this problem?

Hes going out on loan tomorrow, so i hope its cleared up by then

mine does this all the time, he's like the elephant horse, goes down within a day or so. i dont know what bit him the other week but he was plastered in repellent too. came up in lumps then the bite bits were weeping and left crusty scabs which came off with the hair

the vets just called me, he said hes had loads of calls about these types of swellings over th past few weeks, apparantly its a reaction from a midge bite, bloody things

nothing to do with sweet itch though.
Ive got to wash him down with diluted hibiscrub and give him one bute twice a day to reduce the inflamation.
