Hi everyone

has anyone ever seen a splint like this and of this size before? I’ve just never seen one this long, only ones that are like little hard balls 😊

My Louis had a huge egg shaped one then over time it flattened and went like that before it went down, so I think it's a normal process for them to go like that.
Thank you for the reply. I think he’s had this for some time. It’s very hard and apparently has never caused an issue. It just is far bigger and longer in length than anything I’ve seen before.

My cob has a lot of feather and it wasn't until washing his legs today that I found a huge splint (I think ) on his foreleg and a smaller one on a hind leg. I pressed really hard on them and got no reaction and he's sound.
The front one is about a size of a small Brussel sprout!
Am I OK to carry on working him - are the splints a sign that he's doing too much?
He's 9 this year and in moderate work for the first time in his life.

Can anyone tell me please, if a horse has a splint, is that leg uninsurable?

unsure 100% but when my horse was vetted many years ago the only thing that showed up was an old healed splint which was put on the report. The insurance company didnt exclude anything due to this ! This was 10 years ago though
