He'll be ok though!

She is planning on coming back tues if he is wieghtbearing tomorrow (meaning it is cellulitus) but if he is the same or only a bit better then she will come out tomorrow, or might take him in depending on what they want to do next.

Feel so bad that I didnt notice the hole before, still cant believe he went out bucking and cantering last night, then was flat out on his side this morning

Dont blame yourself for this!

They get upto the most stupid and bizarre things in the field and unless you have 24/7 cameras with night vision, i really doubt you could have been aware of this!

Tbh, i think you noticed a lot faster than many would have :/ Thank goodness hes at home with you.

Its not your fault and he WILL be fine!

Big hugs and vibes zooming yours and Jerry's way.

I agree with what the others have said -DON'T beat yourself up about it! If the hole only became apparent when the leg was clipped, you had no chance of spotting it.

Huge vibes to you both and fingers crossed! Don't be too hard on yourself, you can't be with them 24/7 and accidents happen. You're doing everything you can for him now and it sounds like he's good hands

Hugs and vibes to you both.((((((((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Sisters mare had this a few years ago. One day fine, next day leg like a tree trunk and couldn't move, plus she was weaning the foal so was a bit of a nightmare...

The vets thought the same - cellulitis or joint (knee in her case) we couldn't even FIND the puncture wound!

Anyway, got IBs into her, bathed it with water - alternating hot and cold - a few times a day, and got her out walking once she could weightbear.

Its not an overnight miracle improvement - its quite a long haul so though I'll have everything crossed for you, don't get down if its taking a while to show improvement.

Oh and be prepared, once the gunk starts coming out (pressure inside the leg) its sticky yellow stuff like honey, and the hair all falls out, so J might end up with a very moth eaten leg!

Has he done front or hind? Ours was front and she had swelling right up into her chest and girth area - looked terrifying!
