Was very happy to read this, I am so glad that someone so influential at one of our top events wants to keep the eventing at Badminton clean and drug free. He has written to princess Haya (makes me proud to be British) as have many vets from across the globe, demanding that this new ruling be changed back to zero tolerance

How can this woman get away with this? Can all these experts and top vets accross the world be wrong? I don't think so.

Good for Hugh and many others that are making a stand about this. It was brought in by very dubious means and does seem to be missing the point entirely that it will bring horse sports into the 'dirty sports list' which is the last thing anyone needs as the tabloids will be onto it in a flash let alone the morality and decency to an animal coming into it. It's fair enough when it's only one person's decision to be responsible for themselves alone but this is an animal we're talking about making this decision for which is totally unacceptable. It does make you wonder why and who was actually behind this decision and what their motives are; it's a well publicised fact the family have already been involved with drugs with their endurance horses. Luckily, it looks as if events of all kinds across the world are making their own stand on this crazy and damaging rule and could well leave Princess H with a lot of egg on her face because of her behaviour. You'd think a participating rider would be only too keen to keep the integrity of all equine sport not take a backward step like this.

I just posted in NL about this. It was discussed at EGB's AGM on Saturday. It looks like the BEF and other equestrian federations will be demanding a revote at the next FEI meeting. They are cautiously optimistic that the rule will be overturned and bute will be back on the banned list. If by some chance this doesn't happen then before bute would be allowed at a national level there would be a members vote, which I believe (hope!) would be big NO. I don't know if BE, BD or BSJA would also have a members vote on the issue? If you're a member of any of them then get writing to your chairman and demand that a national vote be taken should it become necessary.
