Havent been on in a long time as been without Internet!!! I now have alot of catching up to do to see what has been happening on here!

Hugo has started his BE career, after missing his first BE in Sept 10 due to a strangles scare (which all came back negative) he Finally got his first BE run at Howick at the start of April. I did the 80T on him to see how he coped. He did a reasonable dressage 37.5 which considering the deep mud in the dressage arenas I was reasonably pleased with, Two show jumps down and a time fault Show jumping – decision made to change the bit! And a lovely clear XC with 11 time faults. Overall very pleased as the XC was tougher than I thought it would be at this level.

Yesterday was his first BE90 at Bickenhall and he was a very good boy, warmed up very nicely for the dressage, and scored 32.5 which put him in = 4th so very pleased with that, Show jumping was more controlled and just had one unlucky fence down. XC he was awesome, to say I was worried before the start would be an understatement, I couldn’t believe how big the course looked when I walked it (have I been out of it that long that everything now seems bigger!??). The ground was hard and the fences were the biggest he had ever jumped XC so I made a decision to take it steady and try to get round. He was as good a gold, held all his lines, went faster and slower when I asked and jumped everything first time. So clear XC with 9.2 time faults. I was thrilled with him as he is starting to show his true potential. Unfortunately it now means he is ready to sell 

Well done :D another HHOer I didn't realise was there would have been great to put a face to a name!

The XC was big and bold so no you're not imagining things but I thought it rode nicely. Also what a fab dressage score and you were far from alone from an unlucky 4 faults. (hey an ex 4* horse got unlucky 4 faults as well over the same course!) so a very good run overall and no wonder your pleased just a shame you are selling him.

He looks lovely. Shame you have to sell him.

How is...argh I cant remember his name... the lovely boy I saw you xc'ing at Gatcombe on??

Is it Frankie?

AandK we bought him with the intention of selling him or the one we bred who is a year younger, the other one is somewhat challenging but i think will be a better prospect long term, Hugo is very very Easy but i think Novice level BE will be his limit. and i hope the baby has more potential.

Thanks Sarah Jane, i wish i had know it was going to be that challenging, thats only the third time he has been round a XC course, he has schooled twice at Leyland court and once at Pontispool so poor boy was thrown in a bit at the deep end!

Racingdemon, thank you :-)

Thank You Santa_claus, yes i would have been nice to meet some other HHOers! I was very pleased with him!

Oneinamillion, he is isnt he, he is very photogenic!

Hi Lou!! I know, i wish i could keep him, but i havent got the time or the money to compete three. Had frankie not got the all clear the plan was to have kept him.

Vickijay - Hi, yes it is Frankie, he is doing really well, its over 18months now since he injured himself, he got the all clear in Jan, I am just waiting for the ground to soften up before he can do his first BE! he is going to be very excited! He has been concentrating on dressage recently much to his disgust!

Diggerbez - yes i think he will, he will be a lovely mother daughther share as he is just so quiet to hack and to handle and very easy in all phases.
