To try and combat dizziness and headaches in heat, I want to try upping electrolytes.

Dont want highly artificial sports drinks from big brands with loads of odd additives, or high sugar drinks.

Any recommendations? Dont mind homemade, if can be made easily and taken to competitions / stored in lorry all day.

TIA

Zeros, think you can get them from boots, no sugar or caffeine just electrolytes. They really help to prevent headaches dizziness etc when I'm running or cycling.

Tescos also do a gel which is pretty good too.

Diaoralye are very very good, we always have some on hand as I get sunstroke so easily

Mixing sugar and salt with a big glass of water does the job but doesn't taste as nice!

What about www.dioralyte.co.uk - it's usually used after you've had a bad stomach etc but is app the UKs no 1 rehydration therapy. They now even do it in ready made cartons - as it is often used for children etc i would like to thing it doesnt have a load of additives etc in.

The levels are much higher than in the Zero tablets 200ml drink

Dioralyte 290mg sodium, 160mg potassium
Zero tablet 200mg sodium, 70mg potassium

Not sure if more better or not?

Mix 1 part 'lo salt' with 2 parts sea salt you will get plenty of sodium and potassium. This is what is give the neds :)

I use the High5 Zero tabs for running, they do the job on a warm day and have used them on a 40 mile ultra without any problems. They do contain an artificial sweetener which I don't really like so I'm going to give a product called 'Tailwind' a go as it contains glucose rather than a sweetener. Coconut water is great for potassium but contains only small amounts of sodium and if you drink it in too large volumes, it can upset the digestive system a bit. Nuun is another brand that comes in a large amount of flavours but it not so easily obtainable.
