short ickle post here ... wondering what sort of human food is safe to give to horses .. any suggestions please ... what does your horse like to eat ??

oooo my ponies favourite topic food lets see she eats ;; cheese sandwichs, bananas, melon, biscuits, cakes, mince pies (christmas), crisps (smoky bacon her fav), mc donalds chips and lots more haha she eats what her mummy does XD

Swede, Carrots, Parsnips, Turnips, Apples & Outer leaves of Cabbage, Cauilflower and Brussel Sprouts(mainly).

Pears & Banana (occasionally).

pears!!loves them-other than that turns his nose up at everything-very boring!!My friends horse eats ANYTHING, one time she ate a vegemite sandwich with the clingfilm on it!(was worrying at first but she was fine!)
 
Toffee has a Marmite sandwich for breakfsat every day (1 slice of bread) and all the usual vegetable peelings and fruit (her favourite is bananas). They both have carrots, swedes, apples, sprouts, broccoli, cabbage etc. At shows, Toffee will try and eat whatever we have, so we try and stick to vegetarian food. She loves Twiglets, is partial to the odd Dorito and hates grapes! Our old horse loved Horlicks..
 
I don't tend to give my horse treats and human food, he gets a bit bolshy if given treats! He gets carrots in his tea but other than that the only 'treat' he gets is to share my hot cross buns that I have after an endurance ride! He loves them and makes a growling noise as he eats them!
 
Hmmm let me see. He is fond of penny sweets, krispy kreme doughnuts, biscuits, humbugs, ribena, mice, birthday cake, mini cheddars, bread, polos chocolate muffins, cheese and onion crisps (not salt and vinegar) apple juice….

) Megan is really fussy and wont eat anything except carrots and pink lady apples, Lillie was the same. Esme on the other hand will eat anything- she loves digestive biscuits, bread from burgers at shows and will happily lick fizzy drinks from you hand. Hav'nt really ever tried feeding Bailey anything unusual but I can't imagine there is anything he wouldn't eat if offered.

sam is shocking, loves coke, tipped into my hand, aniseed sweets, crisps, once i was talking to mum at a show, sam was behind me, and he completely pinched my hotdog out of my hand and ate half.....naughty pony!!!!

Brecks is naughty with tip bits, makes him bolshy too, but i think he would eat literally anything, he is that food orientated!!!
 
mine will try anything, basically if you are eating, he wants it. There is no end of times when I have given him a bit of cake or a sandwich and he gobbles it up after me telling him he wont like it.

Only thing he doesnt seem to like so far is the pastry from a sausage roll
 
I used to give mine 48 weetabix on christmas morning with honey and warm water with a bit of milk in it....... the mess was incredible!!! He was also a wierd one, he used to suck polo's, pony nuts and the like, bit odd, but his favourite sweets ever were sherbet lemons or refreshers....... he'd also practically take your arm off for a satsuma, peeled pf course!!!
 
well pickle likes just about anything someone gave him a dried prune once and he ate it!!

He does really like carrot, parsnip, and he also likes orangina!! (very very occationally!)
 
I'm afraid G, although a greedy little sod, will only really eat carrots, apples, swedes and polos. I have yet to try him on parsnips, but he hates bananas and bread.
Oh, he adores apple juice, i can disguise anything with apple juice!!
 
otto likes carrots,apples,parsnips, cheese & onion crisps, maltesers,he doesnt really like bread or mars bars. the pony doesnt like apples, and we have a pony on the yard who also doesnt like mints
 
I really think little G and SWUO ought to meet!She will only eat carrots and apples...really doesn't like anything else...she did eat a mouthful of parsnip a few weeks ago, but that was only because another horse had one and she tried to nick it off it before she actually realised what it was!

well, if I hang a swede in his stable, it only takes him an hour to get through it. I must start hanging them that little bit higher.
For one so food orientated (I can let him take himself into his stable as he knows there's a snackball in there) he ain't half fussy!

Thats like my sisters pony, he can tell the difference in apples. He will only eat golden delicious, pink lady, royal gala and fuji. Anything else he will just leave.

Gypsy and Septre will eat anything. Gypsy loves red hot aniseed balls and doughnuts and Septre loves fanta.

Amber will only eat carrots ands apples. She spits mints out and wont try anything else bless. Its nice not to be mugged when eating my lunch though lol.
