Human names for horses?

Mine is called Joe and I've loaned a Norman, Jake and Amber in the past.

At my yard we have..... Harvey, Amy, Ryan, Oliver, Damian, Mo, Holly, Bruce, Paddy and Clair. We've had a Gemma, Annie, Emma and Emily there in the past too.

I had never thought about the preference for human names for horses before this thread to be honest

At our yard there is Ellie, Bonnie, Amelia, Phoebe, Fergus, Monty and a Ralph. The others tend to have names like Chester or Merlot

My horse has a human name - Jenny - but she does occasionally get Jennifer if she's being a madam! She was called Genesis so non-human name originally but it just reminded me too much of Phil Collins and that didn't seem too ladylike and that is why and shortened it to Jenny.
When I've thought about it nearly all the horses on our yard have human names - we have an Oliver, a Jamie, a Godfrey, a Vinnie, a Penny, a Xena, an Arnie and a Bart.

I've had a Tiny Tim, Max, tilly and a Rupert!! I named them all but Tim, he was called Timmy but i kind of renamed him tiny tim instead. Tilly is for Tilbury after my gran (RIP) and Rupert i let my other half name..... Oh well!! MY friend has a fred, tiffany, percy, hugo and a lily!

I knew a horse called Richard!

wtf is that all about? PMSL!!!

Most of my animals have had human names. Current horse is Oskar (named by me), I've had a Troy, Emily, Agatha, Adam, Woody, Cain, Louise, Jacob (not all horses LOL)! My parents dog is called Theo.

My old loan pony was called Katie. Currently live on a stud and the majority of the horses and ponies there have human names such as Jack, Dominik and Justin.

Always wanted a Donkey - would call it Steve!

Most of the horses I've owned, and the ones I share have human names.
Annie (aka Monster, full name Heathviews Athena Sky)
Ralph
Mollie
Ben
Charlie
Storm (when bought was known as Norman....Stormin' Norman! Full name Clariches Atlantic Storm)
And finally Salut (Garway Absolute) that my dad insisted on calling Reg!
The majority of horses and ponies at work have human names and its so much easier to remember!!!

I'm not keen on human names for animals, you always end up meeting someone with that name which is embarrassing as heck. I'd a cat called Sam (by her previous owner) and a friend called Sam, who had a phobia about cats! I rode on a lesson once where there was a kids called Christopher and a pony called Christopher, which got seriously confusing ...

Mine is called George, which by all accounts is quite a common name for a horse (well not common as such, but I've met plenty called that).

I have met a Phillip, Lucy, Ruben, Kai, Phoebe, Pippa, Charlie, Dee, Gemma, Jack, Carys, Louisa... list could go on all day. I prefer these sorts of names to names my poor mare was afflicted with since birth... Sparkle.

What's in a name lol..to me its just something they answer to...or not, and a way of identifying the individual, sometimes they even act like their names, lol.
I've a Leo and had a Johhny and Albert

in the past.

I've currently got a Ronnie, and before that had Cassie, Maud and Daisy. I also had a little Welsh A called Pippin and I am sure I've heard that used as a boy's name.

On our yard we have Millie (x3!), Ellie, Rory, Tilly, Charlie, Grace, Arthur, Bryn, Jack, and probably others that I've forgotten.

The horse name that really has me in stitches though is Eric. ERIC?!

mine are a mixture. Their registred names are not human ones but sometimes their stable names are, This year's foals include a Jack and Tia, last year we had a Lola, but then a lot of them aren't human names, eg Vivaldi, Casi, Pickle

I like human names for animals! My pony is called Archie which really suits him as apparently it means 'very bold' which couldn't be more true, he is too confident IMO! And my dog is called Freddie which is cheeky, exactly like him!
