Is anyone using a human polar heart rate monitor on their horse?
I’m doing a bit of an endurance and I’m curious to try a HR monitor but don’t want to fork out the money for a horse specific one when the human ones are so much more affordable.
I’ve heard of people attaching them to the girth with some vet wrap but I’d be curious to hear of any other ideas and whether they’re reliable.
It’s mostly for quickly checking pulse before vet checks but also monitoring fitness during training rides.

Ask a vet I think.

I have heard that human doctors can't resist listening to their horses's hearts through their stethoscope and then ring their vet in a panic about murmmers and strange sounds - which are normal for horses and nothing to worry about. So whether a human heart monitor would work on a horse, I wouldn't know.
