So many supplements on the market so any recommendations welcome.

I'm going through the menopause and know I sometimes struggle to eat enough veg, fruit and protein. I'm better in the summer but do struggle winter time. This isn't a weight thing and I'm not vegan or vegetarian.

I'm looking for a drink I can make easily each day to have at work mid morning preferably or at home b4 work. Lazy but I don't want to be blending each day as with dog and horses then getting to work I just wouldn't do it.

Don't mind chucking some oat milk (I have oat rather than dairy as dairy not great for my asthma and skin) or a banana in, but really looking for something ...maybe powder !!

So something that provides vits/mins. Protein would be a bonus...

Preferably not individual drinks as would rather not throw a can/packet a day away

Thanks in advance all. 🙂

Probably not exactly what you are looking for but might be a useful addition..... we've started buying Moju immunity shots berry flavour. It contains a high dose of vitamin D, vitamin C and zinc, and you are supposed to have 60ml a day. I don't like the taste on it's own so make a cocktail with "mockingbird raw defence" which is a mix of fruit and vegetable juice and also has vitamin A and C in and some apple juice. I then just drink it like a normal drink but get a boost of vitamins which is handy.

You could make up batches and freeze them if you pre-plan. I used to make a smoothie with pineapple juice, blueberries and raspberries and a scoop of protein powder. I'd make up a load, fill small bottles, freeze them and take one out each evening for the next day. If you buy unflavoured protein powder you can add it to loads of different combinations. Bulk.com and My Protein often have it on sale - never buy it full price, always wait until it's around 50% off.

I’ve heard Huel is good. I’ve tried some of the protein powders from MyProtein before and they’re nice!
Yfood however did NOT sit well with my stomach 🤣

Nature's Best whey protein tastes pretty good for a quick protein boost, I like the chocolate flavour best. To make a smoothie I use their vanilla or strawberry flavour with about 100g defrosted frozen berries, half a banana if I have some, with a few teaspoons of ground chia/flaxseeds/almonds, and some peanut butter or coconut oil. Some oats make it more filling, too. I use cows, almond or soya milk in the amount they recommend. It tastes really nice, and sustains me for a long time.

My OH got me some of those Huel meal replacements a few months ago when I caught covid and didn't eat for 3 days and didn't want to eat but defo needed a way of getting vits and minerals in. I wouldn't recommend any of this stuff generally though...they just don't seem like a healthy thing....

I blend banana, milk and a good handful of bluebells. Quick and easy and I always feel better after having it. I don’t have time to do any thing more exciting - it’s a nice flavour and packed with lots of good stuff!

I used Huel when I was studying for exams and night shift weekends it was the best for completeness and isn't jammed full of artificial proteins you can't possibly absorb in one go. I got sick of the smell though.
I make a breakfast smoothie with full fat greek yoghurt, Banana, almond butter, oats, frozen berries, and boabab powder.

Do people like Huel? Its like gravel/ mud that passed by a banana. The taste and texture was awful.

I managed one mouthful and never again!

I make smoothies with whatever fruit/juice/yoghurt I have and add a green powder thing. I refuse to pay for the £100 a month one that all the influencers seem to be peddling, but found a cheaper alternative on amazon

Huel is really good, apparently if you stopped eating normal food and replaced your meals with Huel your diet would be perfectly balanced (but you’d probably be broke!) My other half uses it and I use it on and off. Some flavours are nicer than others, I prefer vanilla or banana.

It’s not a taste sensation but I find it quite nice. Some flavours are a lot nicer than others so you might just have tried one that you didn’t like. Experimenting with the flavours is a bit pricey though!

Huel milkshakes are good but we found if you keep them in the fridge they taste a LOT better! Room temp not so much!
The food is good, rice dishes are particularly nice, wasn’t so keen on the pasta ones x

If possible you should be eating the actual fruit and veg not blend it. It's not just the vitamins but the fibre you need. You can have as many smoothies you like but it only counts as one portion or fruit and veg as its been broken down.

kaylum .. i do try and eat fruit and veg but sometimes fail at recommended amount. I don't really want a smoothie as it will be laden with sugar... With the dreaded menopause I've occasionally been feeling run down and get starving mid morning, I also drink alot of coffee at work so thought it might cover all bases.

Think I might try the huel daily greens drink !!

If it means one less cup of coffee and supposedly has benefits it's worth a go. Looks like it's not too sweet, most have artificial sweeteners and flavour added, I like black coffee no sugar ... Sometimes hard to get something without sugar/sweetener in !!

No bluebells in it though 🤣

Well the thing that might help most is an egg in the morning its the best thing for to stop hunger .

Agree though would add any sort of protein will keep you fuller for longer. Good proper oats (none of that pre-packaged cr@p or the super fine rolled pinhead oats) also packs a punch of protein (with a blob of peanut butter, is even better!). Also make sure protein is part of your dinners.
