...as it's my first hunter trial in 10years this weekend!!

It's only fairly noddy stuff (2'3" max I think - you lot could jump it blind folded and back to front, I know), but should prove interesting as my little horse and I are not overly keen on leaving the ground. At least not simultaneously.

Anyway, at the risk of sounding totally stupid, what does one wear when going cross country these days? Back in the good old days I used to wear a stock with my colours & body protector? Does anyone do this anymore?

Don't want to stick out like a sore thumb. We'll probably be doing enough of that anyway...

Thanks.

Firstly - good luck!
Secondly it doesn't matter whether it is a 2'3 hunter trial - after 10 years of not doing it takes guts no matter about the size!
Cream/beige breeches, long boots, sweatshirt, body protector, skull cap - and a stock if you like to wear one. Sounds like you have the kit anyway. Not sure if you HT will require it but a lot like you to have a medical card too.
Oh - and remember to write a report to let us know how you get on and get some pictures.

Oooh, medical card, now that is something I don't have. Will have to make a trip to the tack shop tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouragement. It should prove entertaining. Or, at least, it would if anyone was coming with me. I'm having to go on my own!!

poor you, having to go on your own, maybe you can find a willing groom on here that would like to help!!...hopefully you will have a great day, good luck!

Good luck this weekend, will look forward to reading the report! Nothing wrong with starting out at 2'3" either, that's what I'm doing with my boy. One thing which may help - at last couple hunter trials I did, they asked to check my hat and body protector to make sure they were current standards. So take them with you when you go for your number. Saves another walk through the lorry park.

Can't you persuade anyone to go with you? Wouldn't like to go jumping by myself & definitely not XC. And it is so much easier when there is someone to act as groom!

There will be a few folks I know there, but with other people, if you know what I mean. Will have to persuade someone to take some piccys for you all.

Am moving to the yard where it's held on the same day anyway. So it's not like my poor pony will be stranded if I fall off and can't drive!

Strangely, I am very nervous. Never felt like this back in the day.
