Ok I can understand why male dogs do it (purely because their male!) but why do female dogs do it?

My pug always seems to get randy when she's come back from a walk, she's as mad as a breakfast at the best of times but gets even more excited when she comes back from her walk, I'm trying to make the tea and walking around the kitchen and she's forever trying to cling onto the back of my leg/fluffy slippers snorting away and...well you know, trying her hardest to satisfy herself!

I've tried telling her off, poking her away with my foot but that doesnt work, how do put a stop to this, ok at first it was rather funny but now its quiet annoying!

Is there a specific reason why they do this?

Yes, agree with above post - does sound as though she is trying to assert dominance, little minx! I would try a very firm push away with your hand and a loud NO, then turn your back and ignore her and repeat if she continues. Or, keep a squirty bottle on the side and give her a squirt, just to surprise her and get her to back off. Does she do it at any other times or is it just after the walk? Also is she neutered and how old is she?

She's 8 and no she not neutered, no she only does it when she's got excited when she's come back from a walk, so its not all the time, yes good idea I'll try a spray of water and be a bit more assertive when I tell her off.
