I would like to learn to make one of these halters. I used them on holiday many years ago and have been trying to source one but failed so far. I know we have some members from the continent so just curious to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I tried kötöfek but maybe didn't dive deep enough as I just got a lot of standard halters.
Based on the one Capalldonn posted, I figured out that they are called "peasant halters," and seem to only be made by a company called Equi-Time - or at least those are the only ones listed online. If you search "Hagyományos "paraszti" kötőfék", then it brings up quite a few places that sell it. Sadly none of them seem to ship to me, but I found at least a few that will ship to the UK.

These are fab tan you guys, tha forum is so cool.

Now I need to work out shipping and sizes. I wonder what 40 refers to?

According to Google Lens, the halter is similar to a "Mule Tape Rope Halter".

If you search on YouTube, there's quite a few videos showing you how to make a Mule Tape Rope Halters, which look similar, but not exactly the same as the one in your photo.

I think there’d be import tax too?
In my experience of importing things into the EU (from Japan, China, the US and the UK) being hit for VAT is a bit random... A few months ago I ordered something from the UK and I wasn't charged VAT. I ordered the same article from the same vendor two months later and was charged VAT.

There may well be a threshold, too, below which VAT in not charged.

I'm in Montenegro in April so I might just have a nosey there. The problem I've found is the ones that say they ship to the UK actually don't have a shipping option other than collect in store. The other option would be propositioning a Hungarian etsy shop that already ships to the UK 1
