I have just bought a 4YO TB, bred to race but too slow and sold on to me, she is still growing so I understand she will have a big appetite but she seems to be always hungry! She has a massive haynet every night and a very big dinner then is out in the field all day (not short of grass at all, they always have their heads down) I am slowly in the process of changing her feed but what do you all suggest I can feed her to help her put abit of weight on but to also fill her up??
Thanks in advance :)

Keep giving her as much hay as she can eat, and boy can they eat some!! There are so many feeds on the market. You would be best off sticking with a fibre only diet. I would give a few feed companies a ring and see what they suggest. Spring us around the corner so if she is a little lean at the minute that should change once the grass gets going. But the most important thing is to feed plenty of hay.

Make sure that she has enough hay overnight so that there is a little left in the morning. If that means she has to have two haynets, so be it! Plus give her breakfast as well as a dinner and make it fibre-based so takes longer to chew and will fill her up.

How big is a massive haynet a horse that size will easily eat over half a bale of hay a day, it might even be worth giving her a haynet and a feed in the morning before she goes out.
