hungry horsey!!

right this may seem a silly question! My 3 yr old has just a small scoop of mix for maintenance (he does very little and is not yet backed!) I don't know if its the grass becoming scarce but he seems really hungry when im going in with his night time net.. proper snatching and whinnying when he hears it (which he never usually does!). I'm thinking of adding some mollychaff to his hard feed to bulk it up a bit (i dont want to increase his mix as its just enough and hes a good doer!!)

so does this make sense?

hes out all day and in at night with a big net

Adding some chaff to his mix is a good idea it will also slow down his eating,I would however use something like Hi Fi as it has less molasses than molichop.
If he is really hungry maybe some hay in the field as well.
