Hunt ball attire-

I am going to the South Staffs hunt ball, do I really need to wear a full length jobby.I don't enjoy dressing up, would I be OK in evening trousers and a dressy top, or maybe a LBD.

Or should I wear a long ball gown dress thing , never been before and just wondering if there was a dress code.

Any help would be great!

i always do the full length job as to me that is what a ball dress should be.
if you really don't want to do that i would go LBD instead of trousers, but i like dressing up

I went for a 3/4 length ball gown. Had netting underneath.
Just the right length so it didn't hinder my drunken dancing

IME, as long as you look very smart, anything goes. I'd go skirt/LBD, rather than trousers, though.

Cocktail dresses are the norm at my Hunt Ball. A few people wear full length ball gowns and there is always an old dear in the corner in tweed LOL.

The "old dear in the corner in tweed" has made me wet myself. I can just imagine it. I think every hunt has one. How funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

our "old dear in tweed" is fab - she still hunts (and stays out all day) and always has a full face of really caked make up on (and a fab selection of hip flasks!).

I have a lovely cocktail type floaty black dress which rarely gets out my wardrobe, I just want to feel comfy so I have a good time rather than thinking oh some one is treading on my dress, god this dress is killing me, will one of my puppies escape as most of the dresses I have seen are strapless!.

But nor do I want to look under dressed, might go and get my mums tweed out at least that way they'll be 2 old dears in the corner.
