Oooohhhhh im so angry I told a so called friend that I was going to get this particular dress for the hunt ball, she then went out and bought the dress that I was going to buy, Plus the other one that was there aswell,

She then proceded to show every one the picture of it on our yard, saying she couldnt decide between the two that she had bought. she said she is going to keep the 2 as she doesnt know whick one to wear (said I will decide on the night), so completely Pi55ing me off even more as I could have bought the one she isnt going to wear if you know what I mean aaagggghhhhh.
Maybe a nice glass of red wine spilt down it at the start of the night is an Idea????? ohh Im being mean now.....

As a consolation she said I have loads of ball dresses you can borrow one of them, so I thought ahh ok then, but they are really not my taste and stink of fags and have stains on them,

I am absoulutly skint at the moment but the dress I liked was only £40 (was waiting for my pay to go in before I bought it)

im soooo disapointed have been loking on ebay and there are lots on there but mostly from china these are quite expensive on postage and also might not get here in time.

Anybody got a ball dress for sale size 10? lol

you could always hire one? you would end up with a really expensive dress and your friend would be none the wiser

I have a friend that does this, i know how you feel. Have you got a freeport or designer outlet centre with a monsoon near you, they always have some lovely dresses at good prices. My sister also buys her ball gowns from the ebay china shops, they are usually lovely and very individual, you could maybe contact them and ask if its possible to get it here in time but i dont know roughly how long it takes to get it through customs.
Dont worry too much about it, but have a lovely time whatever you wear.

That's pretty annoying. Is she your actual friend?

Hiring one is a very good idea, you could get a designer one, but then it's unlikey you would be able to hire it for £40.

I know this may not sound like your cup of tea, but if you have a TKMAXX near you it's worth a good rummage around, as you may be able to get a really good find and a bargain.

So, you don't actually need a 'ball dress' as such, just a nice cocktail dress. Jane Norman may have some nice ones in the sale. Also try Coast as, although generally expensive they are likely to be in the sales now too.

You do not have to buy a flash dress to look good, you can get plenty for your budget i am sure. Try online shops ASOS or maybe Abound as they'll have plenty to choose from.

I am sure you'll find something

I have 2 dresses, how tall are you, I wouldnt sell either of them but I would happily lend them for you to return.

yeah she WAS a friend but has shite on me really badly, the last month, I found her a house to rent (of my best mate)
got her horse a stable at my yard, as she needed to move from where she was living apparently due to someone harassing her.

she moved out of my friends house at the end of the contract spreading loads of crap and lies saying that she was being harrassed by her (total lies) and actually got my best mate thrown off our yard with her drama queen antics. aagggghhhh

The dresses were in Tkmaxx

Some friend! Not

Try and describe the dresses - loads of us have a TKMaxx near us and we could go and have a look, see if they're there?

Just thinking, daughters have dresses that aren't in use. In fact I think there's a black number that's a size ten. Will send a child to go look and take a piccy. If it's okay, you could borrow it

I know how you feel – a friend of mine bought the dress I wanted last year, I was gutted. Though to be fair, I didn’t buy it because it went around my waist but my boobies are too big and I couldn’t get the top to zip up!

Ahh thanks all you are all so lovely, Im 5'4 but will have quite big heels on, would rather buy one just incase some one spills something on it, I would never forgive myself if anything happened to it, thats why im a little aprehensive about hireing one.

the dresses that she bought were from Tkmaxx both long one was black with hot pink/ and pink beads.
And other was black with white embriodery down front with chrystal type beads, lace ties backs.

Going to the llandeilo and Possibly Banwen

I am also 5ft 4in, I have a beautiful Monsoon dress you could buy - £30 but cost over £100 abouyt 5 yesrs ago. Hot pink Devoree with a cowal neck, I too have larger boobs but you can adjust to fit. PM me if you'd like a pic
xx

What a horrible sounding "friend".

Hope you find something much nicer to wear than the dress(es) you'd originally planned to buy/wear before she got there first. I'd suggest you don't tell her ANYTHING in future about what you're planning to do...

Go round the yard telling everyone how tragic it is that your mate has so little self confidence she has to copy your dress style.......

Wear the dress anyway but make sure you look best and get there first.

Or go on Milly or Landy bridal, they both have made to measure ball gowns and cocktail dresses that are dead cheap. I got my bridesmaids dresses from them for about £60 each including P&P - they were gorgeous and fitted like a glove.

Nickinoo - All is not lost. We go to both hunt balls in the year and always with the same crowd, ie new dress every time. This winter, they decided to have a marquee in a field ( what a bright idea in November)

The mud was knee deep, none of the taxis could get to collect you. The whole thing was a fiasco. Everytime, I get my dress of e-bay as I know they stand a good chance of getting trashed, either by someone dancing on the hem in the early hours, spilling a drink or the weather. The ones from China are fantastic and really well made and also made to measure. Mine came in plenty of time and looked and fitted really well. They are also really cheap. Kill em dead girl and to hell with your friend

Have you tried Dressellicious, shop based in Ireland, do all sorts of cocktail dresses, they have an ebay shop, quite cheap, some of the dresses seem ok, others look a bit ropey but they seem to have a big collection to choose from and their all rather cheap.
