I used to walk hound pups and part of the 'job' was to ensure they were socialised with all manner of pets and livestock. A hound chasing anything bar a trail with our pack would either be taking to task, or at worst pts if not to be trusted.

I have followed on foot with a variety of pet dogs on leads, and have never had an issue with a hound being aggressive towards them.

L&M, puppy walking is such an important job, setting up a hound to be used to all aspects of country life before going back to kennels.

I've found the thread that I posted back in 2018 on the issue of wondering what to do if inadvertently meeting hounds if out walking my own dog. I remember only just avoiding being caught up with the old boy on a particularly horrid day with a mass of antis, police cars and a helicopter out.

That was in the bad old days round here, it is much better now, and we have meet cards again so I can avoid going where the hunt is likely to be.

I was walking somewhere recently and there was a hunt in the vicinity. I had two adult GSDs but also two small beardie border pups and I must admit I was a little bit nervous about meeting them. I did tell myself that they are likely to be well under control and not a threat to my dogs, but glad you have confirmed it.

This happened to a work colleague of mine in the last week-an estate in the Borders beginning with Y? She said the hounds were running about everywhere in the woods and trails-no people to be seen until they got to open ground and there were some landrovers with people who were 'with' the dogs. She put her dogs on leads and another man, with a small terrier was apparently quite freaked out-more by the fact that these dogs were running about with no people nearby.
