I didn't go yesterday as I was kicked in the head at the weekend (another long story) but glad I didn't go now.

As from friends who did go say the Sabs blew a horn directing the hounds across a busy main road which resulted in a car crash and hound being killed. As it's half term children and families could have easily been hurt why will these people find something better to do with their time?!

Whether you're pro or anti surely endangering the hounds is the last thing anyone wants?

especially as 99% of us respect the law and on advertised meets are Drag hunting ! ! What exactly are the protesting about ??? us dressing up and going out for a ride with some dogs - is that really worth hurting people and animals for !!

As an active drag hunter all of my ridden career I have NEVER hunted a fox EVER ! I would be mortified if this was happening on an orgainsed hunt I was on

It's very strange. Was it a cubbing meet? I haven't been for years nor does anyone I know. How has cubbing changed under the new rules?

I think it was the last of the cubbing meets.

So how is it done differently now? They used to place riders around the woods to scare the cubs back in and then send in the pack. I presume it's the same but they only send in two hounds?

Whilst I do not condone what the sabs did, and what a tragic result! Just awful. I can understand why animal lovers would get so upset at what happens in cubbing. Even when I used to go myself I found that part of it quite sickening. :(

Assuming the hunt was run legally I hope the police were called. Totally unacceptable behaviour

Yes, three or four police cars attended, the traffic was held up and someone (NOT a hunt supporter) was arrested. Witnesses say that hounds were horn-called from the other side of the road.

We were legally trail hunting along a rounte that's used as a fun ride by the same hunt every year for the nice and inviting jumps ideal for children on ponies.

i've heard tales about sabs putting up trip wires on jumps and flipping horses over and spraying hounds eyes with stuff. Not sure if it's true or not, but totally hypocritical of them if so!

absolute idiots. They're lucky they didn't kill someone. Sad about the hound but would have been utterly tragic if the crash hurt a child!

Where abouts along A38 did it happen?
The antis statement on their website is suggesting that they saved the day and the rest of the hounds from a similar fate by being there - disgusting!

I've heard of sabs hurting animals before.
I'm very much against hunting, but good grief! The dogs and horses don't know what they're doing is bad in the eyes of some people. They're just having fun running about.

Sabotages are pointless and I've heard someone usually gets hurt :\ So pointless and wrong.

Animal lovers my a***!

As a child my pony was sprayed with ammonia at one meet and caused burns under his stomach and on his hind legs! They are not animal lovers, they are good for nothing t**ts (I sharnt say anymore!)

If you are really against hunting fair enough, but hounds are innocent animals (as are hunt horses). They are simply doing their job, and making a hound die is just as bad as a fox dying :(

Really? So if they were NOT hunting within the law, which I doubt, then calling a hound to its death would be at least partially acceptable behaviour?

As someone has mentioned, the hounds and horses haven't chosen to be there, whether the huntsman has decided to follow a trail or not, why damage them in the name of saving a fox, deer, etc, etc? Isn't that just a tiny bit hypocritical, or perhaps it's just me!!!!

I remember seeing pictures of the Countryside March were 'antis' were delibarately trying to scare horses so that they 'dumped' their riders....and what would happen then? Frightened horses in the centre of a city = potential carnage, people and probably the horses injured or killed, a slight lack of forthought and understanding of animals in general it seems, oh but then again animals are all sciential beings capable of logical thoughts and feelings rather than acting on instinct aren't they........................but there's another argument entirely!!

Sabs are not animal lovers, they just like to cause trouble, have seen them kicking hounds saying that we are cruel to animals, spraying horses and ponies (trying to stop the kids I think) and also spraying the hounds and blowing the horn to confuse them!!! And other stuff as mentioned above, it really annoys me. Everyone is entailed to their own opnion but do it peacefuly and you can actually prove a point not just but peoples backs up. We have quite often have Antis out with us, and allthough they are annoying they are normally peacful, sabs just seem to like to cause proplems!!

Totally agree.
I don't foxhunt any more, but I did as a child, and the mindless behaviour of the sabs never ceased to amaze me. No care for ANY animals at all, just organised thuggery in the name of so called animal rights.

We still line out around each covert, the hounds now learn to pick up artificial scent and work in the woods. The horses lining out are used to help the hounds understand they need to keep together within the covert. Once the huntsman is satisfied with their work then we move on, through the woods or across more open country, to the next covert.

Sabs are the lowest of the low IMO. I don't believe they have any understanding of the countryside or farming communities/animals. God help me if any sab ever touches my beloved horses, I am genuinely scared of how I might react.

I feel very sorry for the huntsman who lost a hound, he will no doubt be rather devastated that it happened on his watch.

VoR I think that Jess just meant that you might not have called the police if you were not acting legally yourself rather than that making sabs actions acceptable.

Always best to re-read your posts before hitting the button then :) got me all hot-under-the-collar for a minute!! ;)

I think you will find very little of the anti is about animal welfare and all about class war and anarchism!! they are the same rentamob, unwashed dredlocked crustys and troublemakeing scum that are
seen at all sorts of protests sad little people who need anger managment or leathal injection or alleast their benifit cheques stopping :D

The whole hunting ban thing has always been about "getting the toff's".

Thanks for clarifying that. :)

Not necessarily (sp) I have never been hunting, have never agreed with it, and fully support the ban......BUT there's not a dredlock in sight in our household.....we all have good jobs, we all wash and couldn't care less how much money someone has!!!! ;)

otaly.

Agree totaly - I guess there are several at a loose end now that the Dale Farm stand off is over!

BUT. Do you go out causing havoc for those that do? I doubt it. ;)
I don't particularly agree with foxhunting, but I don't condone the acts of the sabs either.

By not agreeing, you are not one of the great unwashed, just moral objector.
These twerps are the same rent a crowd that made Dale Farm the media car crash that it was. They are, as I said before, organised thugs who will jump on any bandwagon to cause a disturbance.
