I'm clipping my boy later as he is resembling a sheep and I have a few events left in the season including a three day at Aldon.

I'm a little torn between my normal hunter (with a half face) and a blanket. I normally always do hunter as I hate fluffy horses but wondering if it would be fairer for him to do a blanket now then hunter later in the year.

Reason being, is he's out at night, and when he finishes eventing at the end of oct, he'll go have a month in the field. If he does get cold he can come in at night and out in the day, but he's so chilled I'd rather he stays out. When he comes back from his holiday he'll be in at night.

He'll be well rugged and doesn't mind the rain ect, he's been out happy as larry even in all this rain the last couple of nights. His field has good natural shelter too.

Am a bit worried he may still get hot at the three day with a blanket clip?

I would hunter clip, he will be much smarter and more comfortable for Aldon, there is still time for some coat to grow back before his holiday.

Blanket.

I really notice the horses feeling cold more when they have hunter clips, and even my sweaty mare never needs washing off where the blanket hair is..
