Hunter trial, penalty question?

Hi all,

I groomed for my friend at a hunter trial on Sunday (I'm preggers so cant compete at the mo) anyway two of the jumps on the course had been replaced by rustic show jumps, she had one down and gained 5 penalties, has anyone else come across this before at a hunter trial?

Yup, donkeys years ago when talk of frangible pins started.

Mm I thought frangible pins were for safety reasons? Seems it would be easier to knock a pole than take a rail out of a proper xc fence??
