Well went to our 2nd HT and as posted before was v worried about the water, and as it turns out was right to be so. H was doing a lovley steady roundthen got to the water and no thanks not a chance, problem was the waterfall next to it and the fact he had to step down into it, he just lost his botle and refused point blank to go in, wouldn;t have gone in for all the tea in china- or should that be nuts in the bin! so after a few minutes trying every which way we eventually had to go around and get eliminated, poop. never mind we carrried on and he went v well, went through the 2nd water that was much more inviting and finished well so really am pleased despite the water. Anyway this week off to local course to practise water as they have a nice one, then next weekend HT with another water that looks much better for him so fingers crossed we'll get over it

any suggestions for how i should approach my practise water day ?

otto used to be the same with water and when we took him schooling we just encouraged him into it and walked him through it.when he was confident doing that ash then got him to walk in and trot out or stand in the middle etc. then we went off and jumped a few fences but kept coming back to the water periodically. by the end of the session otto was jumping off the small bank into the water and cantering through it. hope that gives you some ideas

I wouldn't worry too much about that water if he went through the second one. The first was far too scary to be on the novice course realy, but thats HTs for you. They are generaly more scary than ODE's.

Well done!

we went to swerford run by heythrop. binkeybex was v brave doing the huge open at 3'6!!! we did the 3' novice and apart from the water it was a lovely course def recommend it
