Went to Broomhill to do the baby class on Sunday, walked the course, booked in, as it was quite warm I opened the ramp (the door was open for her to stick her head out of while I walked the course).
Don't know what set her off (she was facing the warm up ring) but got herself in right tizzy, shaking, spinning round, back end bobbing down - nightmare. Put the ramp back up (had allowed myelf lots of time) calmed her down, tacked up, got changed - quite difficult when she kept nudging me as if to say 'mum, are we ready yet?'!!
She was just as bad in the warm up, did'nt help they were running late, but finally it was our turn, set off, nice spook in the first field at an orange sign, pulling, but then got into the rhytham, popping round - until we got to the coffin - had a dither, she kept looking, going back looking then decided she had to pop it so we could carry on and finished off nicely - with brakes too - still a novelty after my old horse (had non!)
Did'nt wait for the results as am bound to have got a few points at the coffin!
She is never like this when we go SJ or Dressage - could it just have been the excitement of xc? (I know it was'nt my nerves, I was quite calm as only doing the little class!)
