hunter trials help

Can't help with any centres...but when I went hunter trialing in october i had a great time. We walked the course the day before, and then walked it again on the morning of the ht. Warmed up as if for sj, but with a more powerful forward going canter. Then got called to the start line and then was off! I absolutely loved every minute of both the ht's I did and can't wait till next october to do them again (concentrating on SJ again now).
A lot of people boot up all round, but Jiggy doesn't really need boots all round so just put some brushing boots taped on on his front legs.

I went to my first ever comp last september, which was a HT. It was fabulous fun, just warmed up over a small practise fence and then off we went (we went in pairs) and it was a right laugh. Bit jittery at first and I must have looked funny on the novice course on a 17.1HH horse while little 12hh ponies were doing better than me...hehhee but there was a great atmosphere and it was really good fun. x

I have never ridden one, but have stearded and timed at a few, the best advice is remember to BREATH, amazing the number of people who forget that at the start and are green the whole way round!

Swallowfield is nearest I can think of for you. They normally run acouple ayear. Solihull would be worth a go, they did clear round xc last year which was fun without the pressure of a comp. Otherwise you can rent the courses from the spring onwards for a play.
