I've recently had a delivery of these, and the volume in the bales has gone down noticeably. They're not compacted much anymore, they just fall apart when the bag is opened, and I'm using twice as many in the stable than previously (up to FOUR bales a week on a horse on rubber matting!!).

Has anyone else noticed this, or have I got a dodgy batch?
There's no way I'm going to stick with Hunters if they're like this from now on, will cost me an absolute fortune.
They came directly from the distributor......

Also, can anyone recommend other good woodchip brands? Not Bedmax or any other large flaked ones as can't stand them, they don't fall through tines of a chippings fork and make my stable look dirty.....

Thanks!

Ive got to collect some more on the weekend, will let you know! My last batch was good tho

Mmmm, I'm thinking that I've got a duff batch then! We did get them at a very good rate, because they've started distributing locally, but I think we may have been given the 'seconds'......

Seems to happen in phases. I always buy Hunters and do sometimes get a loose batch that goes nowhere. Apparently it depends whichh of their plants has processed and packed them.

If you ask your feed merchant for the local reps number hopefully a phone call will get you a refund or some credit.
