Hunting and body protectors

i CANNOT believe you said that back protectors are useless (skiddaw) why on earth do you think that they are compulsory for xc !?!

skewby i wear mine every time i go hunting, and so do 80% of the hunt. some people look down on others for not wearing one!! :p

i was at a 2 day event at the pc champs and as they are the irish pc it is complusory to wear backprotectors sjing. we were all complaining about them, but one guy fell off in the sj - and his pony half fell on him half stood on him - he was glad he had to wear his as he thought he would have broken a few ribs!! he was very thankful he was wearing his.

wear your back protector if you want to - i never go XC without one.

It's the same arguments about wearing Patey Hats or an approved helmet isn't it!?

If you want to wear a back protector then do so, if people want to laugh at you then let them - I reckon that at the end of the day a slightly unflattering item is better than serious internal injuries. But hey ho each to their own..

I think I'll stick to foot and bike following, far safer than these strange 4 legged creatures!

Yes that is very true, and I think anyone that would "look down" on anyone for whatever reason must be a bit of an arse so not really worth worring about. I think people worry about what people think too much!!

I have to say i really don't think bp' s are a waste of money, last year I can off whilst hacking ( horse went one way i went the other), I elbowed myself in the ribs as i landed ( clever me) and broke 3 ribs, had I been wearing a bp this wouldn't have happened.

Oh deary me, some crabby people on here arnt there.
You know what, when you asked about BPs I had to go and look on our hunts website, because I honestly can't think whether people use them or not- which shows that most people don't bat an eye lid- either that or |I drink too much port.
I think people are getting a little too defensive about SL- all this safety stuff is often overrated. I don't wear a BP because it hurts my boobs.

I wore a body protector under a tweed jacket when I took myhorse hunting as a 4 year old. No one commented, but they did laugh when I hacked to a meet in a fluorescent vest on a foggy day! Actually it was so foggy the hunt was abandoned.
By the way I was a subscriber not a newcomer.
