what the best hunt in east sussex brighton area .

thanks every1 x

I hunt in East Sussex but not near Brighton, more towards Battle & Eastbourne with the Coakham Bloodhounds (they have a website) and with the ESRM foxhounds.

You can go for as long as you want to & it costs £60 for the day.

You can go around most jumps, you may have to get across a ditch or small fence, it can get fast - so just make sure you have brakes!

Try it, if your horse is good you will be hooked and going out every week!

If I were you I'd check out what your local hunts are and then speak to the hunt secretary to check out the planned hunting area, to see whether it's likely to be a big jumping day or not and also to see how well you know the area so you're comfortable you can make your own way home if you choose to retire early.

Most hunts are actually pretty friendly so don't be shy to pick up the phone to your local hunt secretary.

I'm over in Kent so don't know what the hunting is like round your way I'm afraid but I've heard that Coakham are pretty good and you could probably make some headway with good old trusty google to find your local hunts :)

Second what's said above about the need for brakes. My main riding horse at the moment struggles with this a lot as his life prior to coming to me did not involve any group work at all, he was really just a show pony. Really went to his head when we first went out, therefore. Don't underestimate the effect that a large field of galloping horses can have!

That said, if you tell people it's your first time, generally they're pretty sweet about things, so don't be shy, but if you can do prepare your horse with group work prior to going out with the hunt.

Good luck and happy hunting!
