As above really, has anyone hunted their haflinger/seen a haflinger out hunting?

Pressing question is with their thick manes would you plait or leave natural?

I've never seen one but I don't see why anyone wouldn't. I'd leave them unplaited, that style of neck might look a bit odd, esp withthe gold balls you'd end up with! They approximate a mountain and moorland breed anyway.

No normal plaits, maybe the running plait but I would be tempted to leave natural a la mountain and moorland (which they are an austrian version of).

We dont have hunting up here (NE Scotland) but there are endurance Haffies instead!

Ive hunted a Haffy! - Once - he belonged to a friend who was too nervous too and was called Caramel - loved him - very different sort of horse he jumped and would have gone all day
- I just arab platted his mane - it was chunky but neater than it would have been loose and kept it out the way of the reins - I also taped is his tail.
He was the ultimate 4x4 and although I wouldnt have jumped anything over about 2ft6 he was super!

Our YO's son took his Haflinger to the Children's Meet last year and he was out there jumping all the stone walls etc. Seemed to have the day, although he wasn't too keen on all the waiting around - more to do with his age than his breed I think!!

I did an arab plait in his mane but he managed to rub half of it out before we even got there. In the end we just left it loose.
