Hunting in boots?

No boots, don't really know how to describe this but the hunting round us is very traditional(?) not over a planned well kept course of trimmed hedges and pretyy xc fences (I have nothing against this would like to try it just not whats around us ). So I don't use boots encase they get caught up in hedges/ barbed wire/ filled with mud that kind of thing (: Hope this makes sense!

I took my TB hunting last year, this was a traditional hunt, its was rather good fun! spent most the day at canter or standing still... Walking and especially trot seemed to have been totally forgotten!! :p But I opted for fronts and no backs, as I know how clumsy he is with his legs. There were quite a selection of no boots and fully booted on that day, then a few months ago read something about rules and dress code of hunting and got me thinking about boots..
 
I used to put boots on but I found that several hours in boots just served to make a warm damp environment where bacteria could get into my horses skin. Add in some earth or sand under the boot and it just acted like sandpaper to open up the skin to infection. Having boots on for 10 mins XC at an event is not the same as 3 hours hunting.

I agree with the above. I have had more horses returned with problems from the boots than those that have hunted without.
