I run a non-profit ranch in California and we also have bloodhounds that are used for trailing people in police work. We want to use the hounds for a fundraiser to raise some money for domestic violence programs. Does anyone have any advice? I've never been fox hunting and nobody hunts in Southern California as far as I've been able to discover.

Hello Serina, there is a pack of hounds in California, The Los Altos Hunt Portola Valley CA www.losaltoshounds.org I am unclear whether they hunt anything or trail, if they do hunt, it will be Coyote.
You will find some useful links on their website for The Red Rock in Nevada just across the border

Alternatively, I can highly recommend The Fraser Valley at Aldergrove British Colombia Canada. http://www.fraservalleyhunt.com

They are a very friendly helpful hunt and although they are a ways north, you will doubtless receive some excellent advice on your project.

In the UK bloodhounds hunt "the clean boot" or people. Do you want to hunt animals or people? :)

The obvious answer is to organise hound racing. Set up a course of low obstacles fenced in and then ask their handlers to stand at the end and call for them. By auctioning hounds off for the night and organising tote betting then you can raise quite a tidy sum.
