Looking at getting a few of the hunting people together to book a weekend in Ireland hunting. Has anyone been? If so, what did it cost roughly, what did it include and would you go again? Also, where about did you go and with which hunt?

We'd want to go for the experience, to hunt over the brilliant jumps and for a good laugh. I've seen a couple of 'deals' online but haven't looked into it massively yet! x Will try getting a deal through our Irish dealer but would almost prefer to book something online as I feel it may be easier and more likely to happen!! x

I'm from Ireland, but dont hunt any more, have officially lost my bottle. I did look into it a few years ago, as I've always wanted to hunt with the Galway Blazers, lots of stone walls and fast galloping... (Before I lost my bottle)
www.countygalwayhunt.com will give you info on hunting with them as a visitor. If you look up hotels in Connemara, to see how much accomodation will cost you. It's very expensive if you add the cost of hiring a horse per day to the cap fee. I would def talk to the hunt, see if you could hire a stable and bring your own horse. Not too long left for this season though. There are plenty of other hunts, our local hunt had 20 visitors from the UK out yesterday, and they wouldnt be a fraction of the cost. (And they got 8 miles of a hunt, horses were tired coming home yesterday. Hope I helped, even a little bit.

I think you can take your own but would cost about £200 to get him there, and then back and would need a couple of days to recover from travelling. I'm happy to pay to hire one, also one that knows its job so i don't worry about hurting my horse!

Thanks Erwina, I'll look that up x
