At the moment, me and my friend have been to 3 cub meets this year and aiming to go hunting at least once a week. How much do you generally pay?

Last year i paid £25 each time to go hunting (only went twice) and have paid no more than £15 to go cubbing each time this season. We were talking on Tuesday about people that pay subscription - no way either of us could afford it. And a chap at our stables says he has paid £80 each time to hunt before?!

We enjoy supporting the hunt and attending meets but how many times can you go before having to pay a subscription? and how much have you paid to hunt as a subscriber or not? x

I would speak to the hunt secretary about what your options are, and the different pricing 'packages' they have available.

£25 sounds like the Pony Club cap?

Most hunts have a pony club rate, but if you hunt more than 3 times a year you are supposed to subscribe. A day rate for the hunt we're with is about £80 for an adult - but that can vary and will be cheaper in the autumn and more expensive on things like boxing day.

Ditto amymay - check with the secretary. Hunts are not cheap - but they are not cheap to run either!

£15 for normal meets & i think its £20 for boxing day, & thats for non members (though havnt been this year yet so it may have gone up). I dont think they have a limit on the number of times you go before you have to subscribe, no ones ever said anything to me anyway & i dont subscribe.

I imagine (but i have a strange idea sometimes!) that they'd prefer more people to come (like me that cant afford £1600 subscription) and support the hunt once a week or as and when, as if we had to pay a subscription there would probably be a good 15 regulars that wouldnt be able to go so they would lose out on that money?

I also think that if i was able to pay the subscription, then i would be peeved off at the people that turn up quite regularly and dont pay the subscription?! Or does no-one pay subscriptions anymore?

Ditto what has already been said, ask the hunt sec. most hunts have "deals" so just ask im sure he or she wont bite!

Hunts need all the support they can get, hounds cost alot to keep and its amazing how much the up keep is, so day caps are vital.

Normally it's 4 times max day cap fees a season.

You can buy voucher packs, which can be anything up to 12 tickets to be used over the season...or some hunts offer weekday meet subs/tickets for a lesser price also.

For me as a 22 y/o, it's £40 a day drag hunting. For adult, it's £60 I think. A sub for me would be £260ish. For adult, it's around £800.

Back with the Beaufort, it was £30 autumn cap for me, though free before October 1st [though I was taking a subbed horse on weekdays and 2nd horses on Saturdays as a groom. I only paid on random days where I actually one of my own horses, instead of a works one.]. For adult cap on a full day after Nov 1st, it was something like £80-100 cap! A sub for me with then if I'd done it would have been well into the late hundreds. A full adult cap, was well well over £1000 with them.

It really varies hunt to hunt. Autumn hunting will always be cheaper than main season days.

Have a look on their website or ask them to email you over the fees/sub list to work something out what suits you best :)

Thanks, I didnt really want to draw attention to the fact that im a bit of a regular now!! The chap we give our money to each time is lovely and for cubbing will charge us £10 instead of £15/20 (we must look poor!!) but is very friendly but i don't know what his position is...other than money collector?!

When are you classed as an adult rate? Im 25 now - can look younger if need be :p x
