would you take a horse with a previous suspensory ligament injury hunting? i was thinking of doing a couple of days this winter (nothing huge or fast - i'm a total newbie) but was wondering if i should take my boy? obviously the usual rules re fitness and ground conditions would apply..

thanks

I have hunted a couple of horses that have done tendons & ligaments. But they had been left to rest & recover properly. Talking 3 years from accident to hunting again for one horse. Again took it quietly with him.

Each horse is different & I will not tell you he is fit to do it or not. Only you know that!
But other horses have done it & some haven't.

thanks for the responses. injury was June last year and he has been brought slowly back into full work since March this year (after several months of just walking), did his first event beginning of Aug.
it's not that i am worried is he fit enough to do it, but more along the lines of do people take horses with that type of injury hunting!

thanks

My horse did a front susp lig and after a year off came back 100% sound and strong. No further problems and hunted bigger and better than before.
