Right I don't really know how but i've been talked into go hunting on a new comers welcome day.

I've never been hunting and I'm teriffied, I've been told that there will be no jumping (I'm the worlds biggest wimp at jumping) so thats not to bad but what do you do??

My lads only 4 and I don't want to upset him by me shacking in my boots!! Also I don't have any sort of hunt clothes, what do you have to wear??

Really need vibes as I think I'll need taping to horse so I don't get off and give in!! *Hangs head as this sounds wimppy*

Thanks

Secondly as its a newcomers day you should be fine wearing a black jacket with a white shirt and stock, white/beige jods and long black boots/gaiters.
Just take it is a bit of a pleasure ride but on a grander scale! If there is no jumping then all the day will entail is a lot of cantering/galloping across the fields and some standing around (good chance for a breather and a chat) I always stuff a choccy bar in my pocket for energy half way through the day too.

But most of all dont worry, go and have fun and enjoy yourself. That's what its all about!

If the weather is vile it's fine with most packs to wear waterproofs. My recollection of hunting consists of being either boiling hot or too cold most of the time - and thirsty! Borrow a flask to take if you can.

It's great fun and certainly gets the heart rate up. Don't have too much to drink before you get to the meet - I remember many embarrassing moments later on in the day looking for a hedge with a horse who wouldn't stand still . . .

You'll have a great time

Remember, you can stay out for as long or as short a time as you and your horse are happy with. Just remember to say a polite thank you if you leave early, not just for politeness, but because people may notice your absence and worry for your safety. The art of riding to hounds is to conserve your horses energy for when it is needed. Just dress as smart as you can ,with what youve got or can borrow. Enjoy your day.

Any jacket should do for a bigginers meet a shirt and light coloured jods (I don't mean light pink) You'll like it , it'll be like a fun ride but with dogs ! don't take it to seriously as it is the beginners meet , just enjoy yourself x
