Huntland Dog food

Yes, I have. i bought the salmon, trout and sweet potato one. My dog loves it, and it smells very tasty - I'm weird and sniff it as part of my dog food research! The pieces are quite small, so good for a dog like mine that gulps it down without chewing.

I googled salmon, trout and sweet potato dog food, and discovered that it's a generic recipe that's sold under a few different brands. I found it was cheaper as Nourish (they have their own website) than Huntland and last time I looked there was a generous 15% off your first order. With the discount you could get 15kg of the salmon and trout recipe for £40 including delivery, which is amazing value. I've done loads research on dog food/brands, and think you'd be hard pushed to find anything better for the price.

Oh thats interesting, huntland is currently on petshop.com for £31 something for 12kg on repeat order, also got an extra 10% off voucher making it £28 something a bag! I got a sample bag of huntland with another order and both my dog and OH's dog went mad for it.

Just googled and found a brand called country dog premium, not sure if this is the same thing but currently £26.99 for 15kg!

The other brand I was looking at was Millies wolfheart, but I know people rate that :)

Ive just had another look at the country dog premium, I dont think its the same thing the recommended feeding about for my dog would be 200g a day more than huntland

I recently changed to the generic salmon/trout/sweet potato food (my feed place badges it with his company name but a guy at my club also sells it under his brand, it's in the chain stores under yet another name) for my youngest and she's nuts about it (was a bit 'meh' about Autarky).
It's quite oily (stains my training clothes) and her condition and poops are great on it.
I used it for tracking the middle dog at a big competition a couple of years ago and he also loved it. Coming in about 40 quid.

Beware, it has peas and beet pulp in it.

It seems almost impossible to find kibble without them, though it might not be in the top end ones - I haven't bought anything in that bracket. I think unless you feed home cooked, raw or good quality wet food, you have to compromise on something. If I could afford the best options, I wouldn't feed kibble as the majority of my dogs diet. Dog food is a minefield, and the choice is mind boggling!

That's a good price, but the £5 delivery charge from petshop.com bumps the price up a bit, though it would be more cost effective if you bought two big bags at the same time. It would be worth it with the 10% voucher.

I fed my last dog on Millie's Wolfheart. I thought it was good, and they have so many recipes to choose from. I bought the two bag deals to make it more economical. I've read on here that the customer service isn't always good if there's a problem, which lets it down.

My friend feeds Markus Muhle and any time he ends up doing anything/showing how to do something with anyone else's dogs using his own food, they act like it's cocaine ??
Slightly out of my price range with three to feed but it gets really good reviews and is cheaper the more you buy.

Its free delivery on petshop :)

I like the added joint supplements in Millies, I might get a smaller bag of that to try and see how we get on

My old two absolutely loved Markus Muhle but were consistently sick after eating it. No idea why, but it put me off buying any more.

That's strange, but funnily enough I was just reading on the allaboutdogfood forum about someone's dog that brought up bile after eating MM. I've fed it, it seems to be a very good quality food, especially for the price. I bought the chicken one, I think it was the only variety available then. Chicken doesn't really agree with the greyhounds I've had, and my mum's cocker spaniel had mucus in her poos when she was on it, which has never been an issue with any other food.

You can never predict how a dog will react to a food, even when you select one carefully with your dogs sensitivities in mind. I bought a small bag - luckily - of PAH Step Up to Naturals beef and sweet potato, and my dogs poos were terrible on even a small amount of it. He was fed beef without problems when he was in racing kennels, and I find he's fine with a little beef Butchers Tripe Loaf. I'll never give him beef kibble again though.
