About ten years ago, I had a bad fall, broke my back and promptly gave up riding. Six months back, I picked it up again and remembered just how much I loved it. I've been a bit worried, though, that a fall would send me straight back to hunching nervously, clinging onto the pommel for dear life, like I was when I first got on a horse again.

Well, today I got jumped out of the saddle going over a little fence. And I just laughed and climbed straight back on!

Okay, it was only a fall from a 13.2hh pony, and it was only a 3' fence, but I've been absolutely dreading my first fall, so it's such a relief to get it over with.

Whoops, typo! Two foot fence! She's a very boingy pony but not that boingy!

LOL, phew!:D I managed to fall off (sort of slithered down his neck) at a crosspole less than a foot high (totally rider error) - probably the most pathetic fall ever, but at least it proved to me I could actually survive a fall (first one since I broke a bit off my scapula, after which I didn't ride for several years).

Know the feeling damaged my knee and was so scared in case hurt it more when fell off next.
Few months later horse misjudges a step out of water and both end up on the floor - though didn't have far to fall gave me the confidence not to worry about knee!

Onwards and upwards from now! Good luck!

I don't ride atm but when I am on a horse I'm always a bit scared of falling off :p but when I did eventually fall off a 16.2 horse onto concrete(came out the side door only after he spooked at walk) :D it wasn't all that bad really and quite a relief to get it over with!

Glad the dreaded fall is out the way and you haven't lost confidence! :)
I'm still waiting on my first fall off of my 16.2hh. My last fall resulted in a fractured ankle so I'm staying firmly in my comfort zone these days!

I'm waiting for my first fall since I did my back in 2 years ago! I think we all need locking up for being happy to fall off!! :D

Well done - you've certainly handled that in a relaxed manner! I must be honest and say I haven't fallen off since I was a teenager, and that's a good few decades ago - and I do worry that I've lost the ability to "bounce" .
Glad you had a soft landing, and got back into the saddle!
