Husband or Instructor - who's right?

I do both , I have hacks where they are kept up to their work with stretch breaks and fun hacks where they get a bit more licence , one thing though they never are allowed to go in an inverted outline because that is very damageing for them and they are always expected to answer the leg I also would not tolerate them being rude
I understand why you might always want to keep them up to their work but their careers should long and I think they need fun and ridden downtime if they are to stay fresh and happy in their work for a lifetime.

Sorry Pearlsasinger - typing ahead of brain!!! Should have said that throughout their careers once broken well will work in a correct outline starting with engagement from behind.

We don't have a school at home so I often have to school on hacks too. But even if I did have a school most hacks would be done in some sort of outline.

Long and low up hills is great for their bums and top line. Letting stick their nose out wouldn't really help! In turn this helps when we are actually schooling as they've worked and strengthened other muscles using a different exercise to circles in a school.

If you don't have a school, then periods of hacking in an outline with stretches in between are fine. However, personally, I think hacking is for fun and don't ever work a horse in an outline whilst riding out unless it is being disobedient. I keep all the outline work for my schooling sessions.
