Somehow, my OH got involved with a local Husky rescue called 8 Below. A member of the charity went into his work, which is a builders merchant, asking for help, discount if possible. It just so happens that we have a Husky, as well as two collies. OH got on to his bosses and was told he could use X amount from the company’s charity fund.
Camp runs from Thursday until Sunday, with Saturday an open day for all. It was decided that OH’s work would build an agility course. The people OH work with went to work, and made jumps, a balance beam, see-saw, A Frame and some weaving poles. They also did discount prices on fencing hire for off lead paddocks etc.
We went along with our tent and dogs Friday until today. What an amazing weekend.
The agility course was a roaring success with queues all day. £1 a go. A springer won it in 21 seconds, a lab 2nd with 26 seconds.
I took all 3 of ours in the dog show. Ellie (collie) got 4th in the golden oldie class, Bo (collie) got 2nd in the best rescue. I cried at that as it’s the first time I’ve even tried to see how he would be in a crowd, on lead. Even if he hadn’t placed, he was a winner as he was so so good. Luna (husky) didn’t place in her class, but she was still a winner, because we wouldn’t have got so involved if not for her ?
Over £3.5k was raised this weekend. Next year is their 10th anniversary, and we will definitely be going.
Some pics!
