Husky vs Malamute - please look at the pics

Hi, I adopted a lovely nordic dog from a shelter, 2 yrs of age. I was told it is a husky, but to me it looks more like a malamute, can I kindly ask you to have a look at the pics and tell me what breed you think this dog is more likely to be, husky or malamute?

Thanks to you all.... Perhaps I should measure his shoulder height? Do his paws say anything?

As far as disposition is concerned:
He is so good natured, a pleasure to own, no stubborn at all, not that independent as he wants to be around us all the time, he loves kids, very cuddly, loves his two long walks per day (and demands them when it is time), loves to run, a very good character, easygoing...
Used to run off during the first month we had him (perhaps until he got adapted to his new home...) but now, even though he can jump if he wants to, does not run away from home...

Any indications from these???

Sounds like my mongrel (Utonagan x Inuit).
 
Hard to tell as he's sitting down. His coat is quite long, longer than a Siberian Husky's should be. The coat should be 'well furred', double coated but not silky and shouldn't obstruct the outline of the dog. Male's should be 21 - 23.5" at the wither. Head should be well chiselled and foxy. Mal's are bigger and heavier than Siberian's.
He looks more like a Mal, but maybe not a purebred one. Personality wise, whilst Siberian's generally share some traits they are all individuals, like any breed I guess. It would however be very very rare to find one that wouldn't take advantage of knowing he could jump the fence and go hunting! That's why we all have such high fences!! They also generally aren't content with walks - they need to be running in harness. Some of mine are simply impossible on the lead. You need a belt and it's a miserable experience for dog and human.
He looks like a nice, happy boy and by the sounds of it he's found a great home so have fun!!
 
I would defo say there is mal in there buy all the mals I've come across carry their tails up 90% of the time out of the home. Our male caries his up 99% of the time where ever he is! There's something else in there though!

Our mal also carries his tail 90% of the time.... :-)
 
Mine carry their tails down, unless running or wagging, and they are definitely 100% pure bred mals, from a very well respected mal breeder. In the show ring, unlike samoyeds, they are not required to 'wave their flags', and are not marked down for not doing it.

He does look very mally, Cor, but depending on his line, I would still say that there's a little bit of something else in there. Beautiful dog though - and well groomed!!
