Molasses as a fly repellant?

I've been feeding Ted, franckly.. way too much molasses.. and to cut a long story short... There are no flys bothering him anymore!

never heard of molasses as a repellant but feeding marmite is meant to work. I eat tons of the stuff and never get eaten by bugs, tempted to give it to my chap.

oh!!! didnt knwo that either..

I half expected to come in and fine his ball plastered in flys stuck to the molasses.. instead! NONE! not a single litle bluebottle!
